Job Summary

Supervise children in a safe environment while conducting daily headcounts and updating attendance records. Develop and implement play-based programs aligned with Ontario pedagogy and AQI requirements, observing interactions to track developmental needs. Manage the centre's opening and closing routines, administer medication, and provide placement supervision to post-secondary students. Maintain documentation for regulatory compliance, report signs of child abuse, and conduct parent interviews as requested. Ensure consistent behavior guidance is followed and extend a warm welcome to families.

Required Qualifications

Early Childhood Education Degree/Diploma
Registered member (in good standing) College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
Knowledge of CCEYA, AQI, HDLH, ELECT
Valid Standard First Aid Certificate
Strong customer service capability
Dedicated and flexible team player
Ability to work in a respectful and aware manner with groups from diverse background, experiences, and socio-economic status
Must be willing to work with all age groups
Must be flexible to accommodate operational needs
Must be willing to travel to various offices of the Agency or of its affiliates from time to time
Must be able to administer medication
Must be able to provide placement supervision to post-secondary ECE students
Must be able to report any signs of child abuse to Children's Aid Society
Must be able to inform Director in a timely manner of children's illnesses, injuries (with the correct documentation) and absenteeism
Must be able to conduct parent interviews as requested by parents and Director
Must be able to maintain records, program plans, daily care information, and other documentation as required by TCS, CCEYA and TPH
Must be able to participate regularly in supervision as required by agency policy
Must be able to pursue professional development through training sessions, literature and College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
Must be able to extend a warm Welcome to families at all times
Must be able to maintain a positive and professional relationship with parents and families
Must be able to provide constructive feedback regarding their child(ren)
Must be able to ensure consistent behavior guidance and management are being followed which support the ELC Behaviour Guidance Policy
Must be able to conduct consistent headcount during all indoors and outdoors transition of children
Must be able to develop and implement planned daily programs that engage, stimulate and challenge the children
Must be able to review regularly how your program reflects the Four Foundations of Learning and Development from 'How Does Learning Happen?' (Well-Being/Expression/Belonging/ and Engagement) and AQI requirements
Must be able to set up developmentally appropriate learning environment to promote active exploration with a combination of teachers-initiated activities and children's independent play
Must be able to establish the daily program routine and children's schedules
Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment
Must be able to handle frequent queries and calls from clients, colleagues, service providers and managers
Must be able to contribute to housekeeping duties
Must be able to supervise children in a safe and healthy environment
Must be able to update the children's attendance throughout the day
Must be able to provide team leadership in a professional and positive manner
Must be able to observe and document children's daily interactions and responses to track their interest and developmental needs
Must be able to create opportunities for children to engage in their community, library, community walks, etc.
Must be able to be the 'In-Charge' person when the Director is off site
Must be able to open and close the Centre
Must be able to work M-F, shifts may vary from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Must be able to work 25-hour weekly (5-hour per day)
