Job Summary
Teach young children in an integrated preschool classroom with the Special Education Teacher, creating and maintaining a structured, safe environment that addresses individual development needs. Administer developmental assessments to gather data, coordinate daily and weekly lesson plans using NYS Learning Standards, and supervise paraprofessionals, aides, and volunteers. Maintain confidentiality, ensure meaningful educational experiences, and complete annual performance appraisals for teaching assistants. Participate in parent-teacher conferences, schedule classroom visits, and develop an annual inventory of classroom equipment. Adhere to agency policies and attend required team meetings and professional development workshops. Full-time, 10-month schedule (37.5 hours/week, Mon-Fri, 8am–4pm) with possible evening or weekend work. $42,000–$50,000 base salary plus a $3,000 signing bonus paid over two years.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Childhood Education with NYS certification in Childhood Education
- Early Childhood Certification (Birth-Grade 2)
- Experience working with young children
- Knowledge of child development and student learning
- Knowledge of content and instructional planning and implementation
- Proficient computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Must have demonstrated commitment to performing job duties and tasks at a high level of performance
- Must be available for evening and weekend work
- Must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds
