Job Summary
Plan and prepare meals and snacks for children daily in compliance with CACFP regulations. Take food temperatures upon arrival and at serving times, assist with lunch service, and retrieve, wash, and disinfect all kitchen utensils and dishes. Maintain kitchen sanitation, manage food and supply inventory, and prepare monthly production records. Observe health, sanitary, and safety procedures while treating each child with warmth, respect, and dignity. Perform light housekeeping duties and attend staff meetings or trainings as assigned. Work Monday through Friday with regular attendance, maintaining a clean personal appearance and wearing an apron and hair net daily.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bi-lingual Spanish/ English
- Ability to perform complex program requirements
- Ability to work Monday through Friday
- Strong organizational, analytic, and administrative skills
- Proficient in reading, writing, math, and understanding of work-related material
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent customer service and problem resolution skills
- Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential matters
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Must be in good physical and mental condition
- Must pass T.B. test, drug screening and physical examination
- Successful background and criminal clearance (California Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Child Abuse Index)
- Must always possess Live Scan clearance during employment
- Must possess own vehicle, a valid California Driver's License and appropriate automobile insurance at all times
- Ability to drive and travel, as required
- Ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public; work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues; and complete projects under the tight deadlines even when there are competing requirements and changes in assignments
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with childcare providers and CalWORKs participants receiving subsidized childcare assistance
- Working knowledge of existing County welfare system
