Job Summary
Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and classroom activities that promote children's cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physical growth. Supervise daily routines including meals, transitions, rest periods, and outdoor play while maintaining a safe, healthy, and organized environment. Document children's development through observations and progress records to support individualized learning plans. Collaborate with the Lead Educator to organize classroom operations, manage instructional materials, and mentor student employees. Establish positive relationships with families by communicating daily activities and developmental milestones. Pass a Post-Offer Pre-Employment physical screening involving squatting, bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying varying weights.
Required Qualifications
- NAEYC education requirements for Assistant Teacher role (12 college credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, and/or early childhood special education)
- Minimum of 6 months documented experience teaching children between 6 weeks and 5 years, in an early learning program
- Certification in hands-on Pediatric First Aid, AED and CPR is required upon start date and must be maintained during incumbency
- Post-Offer Pre-Employment (POPE) physical screening on all selected candidates
- Employment eligibility verification form upon hire
Desired Qualifications
- Classroom experience in a NAEYC accredited program
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education
- Evidence of strong communication and organizational skills
- Evidence of the ability to work well in a complex, team environment with both professional and student staff
- Working knowledge of child development and implementation and its application in classroom management
- Evidence of the ability to understand and communicate children's development and needs to families
