Job Summary
Center Director at Port Washington Children's Center in Port Washington, NY, responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment, and maintaining compliance with New York OCFS regulations. Leads enrollment, staffing, and classroom operations; recruits, trains, supervises, mentors, and evaluates teaching staff; develops age-appropriate curriculum; fosters family engagement and effective parent communication; maintains health and safety procedures, emergency preparedness, and OCFS documentation; requires a Bachelor's in Education, multiple years in teaching and educational leadership, OCFS regulatory knowledge, CPR/First Aid certification, and strong leadership and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Education
- 5 years in Teaching Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a childcare or educational leadership role
- Strong knowledge of child development and best practices in early childhood education
- Thorough understanding of New York State OCFS regulations and licensing requirements
- CPR and First Aid Certification (required)
- Must successfully complete all required OCFS background checks, fingerprinting, and SCR clearance
- Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing team
- Ability to create and maintain a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all children
