Job Summary
Assist teachers in the instruction, supervision and care of all students. Under teacher direction, follow behavior management plans and implement strategies to maintain behavior and de-escalate situations. Contribute to curriculum planning and implementation; supervise meals and bus loading/unloading; assist in record keeping, progress monitoring, and data collection. Perform personal care duties (feeding, toileting/diapering, positioning) as needed and participate in trainings (first aid, CPR, mandatory abuse trainings) and parent/IEP meetings. Maintain confidentiality and foster a safe, nurturing, child-centered environment. Experience with preschoolers preferred; basic computer skills and ability to collaborate with staff and families. Requires full-time employment and successful background checks.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree or higher in early childhood education or related field
- Willingness to obtain CDA credential or Para Educator I: Generalist and Para Educator II: Early Childhood certification from the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners if the education requirements are not met
