Job Summary
Assist teachers in the instruction, supervision and care of all students. Essential functions include supervising students (including bus loading/unloading), contributing to curriculum planning and implementation, supervising meals, following behavior management plans under teacher direction, assisting in record keeping and data collection, performing personal care duties (feeding, toileting/diapering, positioning), and participating in trainings (first aid, CPR, mandatory abuse trainings) and family/IEP meetings; maintain confidentiality and foster a safe, nurturing, child-centered environment; adapt to district requirements and duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree or higher in early childhood education or related field
- willingness to obtain CDA credential or Para Educator I/II certification from the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners if education requirements are not met
- experience with preschool children preferred
- basic computer skills
