Job Summary
Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum using best practices and highest standards of care for assigned age groups. Assist the Lead Teacher in developing weekly lesson plans, preparing daily activities, and submitting completed plans biweekly. Maintain accurate child progress records, administer initial assessments within 30 days of enrollment, and report deficiencies to supervisors and parents. Ensure classroom safety, complete monthly maintenance checklists, and adhere strictly to state licensing guidelines and accreditation standards. Participate in ongoing training, Sanctuary training, and staff meetings to meet personal and organizational targets.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CDA credential
- 40 hours of DCF training in early childhood education
- 5 hours of literacy training
- Minimum of one year of experience working as an Early Childhood Teacher Assistant
- Understanding of poverty
- High degree of maturity
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work and communicate with low socio-economic and diverse parents and clients professionally and diplomatically
- Ability to plan, organize, and conduct early childhood education programs
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to use a computer and related software
- Ability to work effectively with others within a multi-disciplinary team framework, including staff and volunteers
- Ability to supervise and direct volunteers
- Demonstrates maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture, and other sources of diversity
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Hearing and speaking ability, which allows for effective oral communication of information
- Physical, emotional, and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress
- Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English
- Must pass required background pre-employment screening
Desired Qualifications
