Job Summary
Early Career Structural Engineer - Bridge Inspection - Assistant Team Leader to support bridge inspection activities, collect and analyze field data, assist with inspection reports and planning of field trips, ensure safety compliance, and collaborate with engineers, inspectors, and technicians. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering and 0-1 years of post-education experience; must be able to read plans, understand structural engineering principles and building codes, perform field work, and operate common software/tools (Word/Excel).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline
- 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience
- Ability to read plans and specifications to provide entry-level technical assistance on various bridge inspections and repair designs
- Knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, and processes, as well as applicable building codes and standards
- Physically capable of performing field work including climbing ladders (40ft or less) and in close quarters, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions
- Familiar with construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, process, methods and techniques
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives with attention to detail
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Proficiency/Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Valid state driver’s license
- The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
Desired Qualifications
- Engineer in Training Certification
- Prior work or internship related to the degree of study
- Interest in UAS Drone flying
- Interest in obtaining rope access (SPRAT) certification
- Interest in or understanding of programming and databases
