Job Summary

Draft, edit, and finalize technical drawings using CAD software to develop civil, mechanical, and electrical layouts for water and wastewater engineering projects. Analyze sketches and input material to determine the best approach for completing drawings, then transfer information to final CAD files using appropriate symbols and drafting standards. Operate plotter, printer, and scanner devices to produce and proofread drawings for accuracy, format, and grammar. Work collaboratively with designers and engineers to prepare design packages from the conceptual stage through construction, while participating in the CAD Action Group to improve company standards. Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or office sites as needed. Requires a valid U.S. driver's license, proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and a minimum of one year of professional CAD drafting experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Drafting
  • graduation from an accredited high school and a minimum of one (1) year experience performing CAD drafting work in a professional setting
  • equivalent education, experience and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Knowledge of engineering basics, including sheet organization, topographical data, scales, and coordinate systems
  • Experience using/incorporating land or aerial surveying/mapping data and files
  • Experience with mechanical design
  • Experience using the latest releases of Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD includes but is not limited to Annotation Styles, Multileaders, MTEXT, Dimensions, Sheet Sets, Paper Space / Model Space, XREFs, Layers, Dynamic Blocks, and Tool Palettes
  • Working knowledge of the latest releases of Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Basic understanding of the latest releases of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, Skype, Adobe PDF, and Windows File Explorer
  • Strong reasoning, mathematical, and geometrical skills
  • Ability to perform basic math skills, including applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret red line drawings from Engineers, CAD Managers, or others on the project team
  • Strong communication skills to include the ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions, and the ability to interact effectively to maintain a team environment
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • a satisfactory driving record for business travel
