Job Summary
Coordinate large-scale sediment remediation projects by tracking budgets, preparing reports, and managing administrative tasks. Conduct fieldwork including surface sediment coring, porewater sampling, and groundwater analysis while overseeing contractors and ensuring construction quality assurance. Evaluate chemical data and contaminant fate, review historical documents, and prepare maps, tables, and figures for multidisciplinary teams. Communicate with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to develop strategies for complex problems. Commit to OSHA health and safety standards and maintain a valid driver's license for required fieldwork and overnight travel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, or chemical engineering
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly while being receptive to a hands-on coaching and teaching approach, working collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to digest and summarize technical language from white papers, reports or regulatory documents
- Regular fieldwork and overnight travel
- Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel
- Excellent writing and communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Prior research experience in contaminated media or remediation technology
- Prior internship experience in environmental consulting
- Experience operating a skiff/small boat or any on-water boating experience
- Technical experience in engineering, geology, geotechnical, environmental, or related disciplines
- Experience working in challenging outdoor environments
- Relevant field experience, for example sediment sampling, porewater sampling, observation of well installation, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and/or other field techniques
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, and related software; GIS
