Early Career Civil Engineer

Job Summary
Conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction permits. Perform routine engineering functions and provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements, operating strategies, and construction issues. Generate complete, accurate documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field logs while complying with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures. Complete assigned training and exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources. Work in a hybrid environment with schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek; occasional travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) or related degree from an ABET-accredited university
- The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
- Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite
- Must be able to work in the US without the need for work sponsorship
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Engineer in Training Certification
- Minimum of a 2.75 GPA
- Ideal coursework includes structural analysis, concrete, steel, soils, foundations, and surveying
- Previous engineering design or drafting work experience, especially if related to civil and/or structural engineering, is desirable
- A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations
