Job Summary

Develop and execute site preventative maintenance activities while supporting capital construction, cost estimating, equipment specification, and field oversight for electrical, instrumentation, and industrial control systems. Manage technical documentation transfers, serve as project manager or design engineer, and lead root cause and HAZOP studies. Provide engineering support for facility servicing, repair, and maintenance of the Distributed Control System, and coordinate modifications to equipment and procedures. Represent the terminal with outside agencies and customers, drive a company vehicle, and perform duties across Geismar and other IMTT locations. Requires flexibility for unusual hours, occasional travel, and work in hot, confined, or hazardous environments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Instrument Engineering
  • Several years' experience in Chemical or Petro-Chemical industry maintenance or design
  • Valid Driver's License
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT's terminal locations
  • Professional Engineering License for the state of Louisiana
  • Programming experience in DCS (Foxboro I/A), PLC, and HMI
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language
  • Ability to make decisions in a variable environment
  • Must be a team player, responsible, trustworthy, and a leader
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to self-direct work and problem-solving skills
  • Management or supervisory experience
  • Advanced level of computer literacy – Access, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Professional safety training
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stand, or stoop, as necessary
  • Ability to perform climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and moderate lifting
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, over water and not be afraid of heights
  • Ability to wear and use a respirator
  • Ability to walk and stand on uneven terrain
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Ability to traverse inclines: uphill, downhill or mixed
  • Ability to ingress and egress in foreseeable emergencies
  • Ability to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others
  • Ability to work in a professional office environment as well as the outside environment where temperatures routinely reach 95 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer
  • Ability to talk or hear
  • Ability to perform duties at Geismar, but other IMTT locations as needed
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle
  • Ability to work unusual hours as necessary
  • Ability to travel with little or no advance notice
