Job Summary
Conduct repairs to aircraft following orders from higher-grade workers and assist in troubleshooting malfunctions in structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, controls, anti-icing, pneumatic, engine, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation systems. Remove, clean, reinstall, or replace defective parts, accessories, and components such as worn gaskets, couplings, fittings, bad actuators, accumulators, gauges, and corroded fuel or oil lines. Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft, make adjustments and settings like cable tension and seat movement, and obtain standard parts by referring to manuals. Perform pre-flight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections and enter work descriptions into maintenance records. This role supports the maintenance program for the E-6B IMMC SCA aircraft used in long-range patrols along the U.S. border and in source and transit zone countries.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- minimum 1 year relevant experience OR 1 yr of additional education/technical school, such as an A&P course
- Able to perform work in an approved environment during specified work hours
- Able to change physical locations based upon need (including physical ability to travel)
- Able to be subject to a variety of physical conditions
- Able to wear respirator or other safety gear
- Able to be subject to areas which could cause various phobias due to height or closed spaces
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
- U.S. Citizenship
Desired Qualifications
- A&P License
- Prior E-6B/707 aircraft experience
- Currently enrolled in A&P Program or recently completed an A&P Program
