Job Summary
Operate a residential or recycling collection truck, including side-load and rear-load equipment, to collect solid waste, yard waste, and recyclables on curbside and backdoor routes. Load materials into the vehicle, compact trash using prescribed techniques, and eliminate driver-induced mechanical failures. Complete pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, daily truck reports, route sheets, and other documentation required by the supervisor. Identify and remove prohibited waste items such as gasoline or flammable materials from carts. Manage assigned helpers if applicable and comply with all federal, state, provincial, local laws, regulations, and company policies. This role is located in North Bay, ON, and requires a Commercial Driver's License with at least one year of commercial driving experience.
Required Qualifications
- Commercial Driver's License
- one (1) years of commercial driving experience OR CDL school certificate
- ability to safely drive the truck and operate the equipment
- Knowledge of the truck and its components and the basic maintenance Requirements for safe operation
- Ability to control operations of equipment
- Ability to maneuver truck into and out of minimum clearance spaces
- using mirrors to back distances of approximately 120 feet or more
- Ability to recognize unacceptable waste (such as gasoline or other flammable materials)
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
- Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located
