Job Summary
Counseling In Schools (CIS) seeks a part-time Activity Specialist to support after-school and school-year programs for NYC youth. You will lead activities in a specialty area (e.g., STEAM, Leadership, Dance, Art, Martial Arts, Gymnastics, Gaming, Anime, Cosmetology, Cooking, Gardening, Theater, Girls Who Code, Financial Literacy, etc.), develop weekly lesson plans, facilitate age-appropriate activities for students in grades K-8, create safe and inclusive learning environments, and collaborate with staff to support instruction. The role involves organizing activities and trips, maintaining positive relationships with youth and adults, and participating in staff trainings and meetings. Required qualifications include at least two years of experience in the specialty area and with youth, strong communication skills, familiarity with office protocols, and ability to pass a security background check. Compensation ranges from $25-$35 per hour, commensurate with experience, with multiple NYC locations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of experience or equivalent training in area(s) of specialty (STEAM, Leadership, Dance, Art, Martial Arts, Gymnastics, Gaming, Anime, Cosmetology, Cooking, Gardening, Theater, Girls Who Code, College and Career Readiness, Financial Literacy, Double Dutch, etc.)
- Minimum of two years of work experience with youth
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to develop weekly activity lesson plans and lead activities for youth in grades K-8
- Ability to maintain a safe, healthy, supportive, and collaborative learning environment
- Commitment to conflict resolution, mediation, and mentoring concepts
- Successful completion of a security background check from the Department of Education and the Department of Health
