Job Summary
Students in the externship program will gain hands-on experience in a small animal practice, under the supervision of a mentor doctor. Responsibilities include gathering histories, performing physical examinations, developing diagnostic plans, assisting in surgery, managing medical cases, and improving client communication skills. Externs are expected to maintain professional standards and carry liability insurance.
Required Qualifications
- Be enrolled in an accredited DVM program
- You are authorized to work in the United States
- You must carry professional liability insurance
Additional Requirements
- Students participating in the externship program are suggested to review the Veterinary Practice Act
- Students must be familiar with the type and degree of veterinary supervision required
