Job Summary
Externs will engage in a hands-on learning experience at a small animal practice, practicing problem-solving, technical, and communication skills under veterinary supervision. Responsibilities include gathering patient histories, performing physical examinations, assisting in surgeries, managing medical cases, providing wellness care, and documenting medical records. Participants are expected to adhere to professional standards and conduct as outlined by the clinic and their educational institution.
Required Qualifications
- Be enrolled in an accredited DVM program
- You are authorized to work in the United States
- You must carry professional liability insurance
Additional Requirements
- Students are suggested to review the Veterinary Practice Act in regard to the scope of duties that may be performed
- Students must be familiar with the type and degree of veterinary supervision required
