Job Summary
Duty Manager serves as the on-site leader during shifts in the absence of senior management, overseeing hotel operations and guest services. Responsibilities include supervising front desk staff and department supervisors, coordinating across front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and guest services, responding to guest concerns, ensuring efficient check-in/check-out, supporting portering/valet/guest transport, making staffing and operational decisions, maintaining health and safety standards, and providing leadership and coaching to staff. Requires prior hotel operations/management experience, strong leadership and customer service, decision-making under pressure, and a NZ driver’s licence; familiarity with Queenstown roads is preferred. Location is Queenstown, Otago, NZ with in-person work arrangement. Local rostered shifts including weekends/public holidays are expected.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in hotel operations or management
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to make decisions under pressure and resolve conflicts effectively
- Full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence (Class 1 minimum)
- Familiarity with Queenstown roads and local destinations preferred
- Physically capable of assisting with portering and operational tasks when required
