Job Summary
Dual Language Leave Replacement teacher collaborates with colleagues to deliver a district-approved dual-language curriculum in Spanish, employing sheltered instruction and differentiation to support diverse learners. Must demonstrate Advanced Low proficiency in oral and written Spanish (ACTFL) or equivalent endorsement/assessment, hold a Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements (including Spanish bilingual education), and communicate effectively with families in both English and Spanish. Responsibilities include planning lessons aligned to the district curriculum, using research-based dual-language immersion strategies, assessing student progress with formal and informal evaluations, participating in equity initiatives, collaborating on interdisciplinary teams, and maintaining professional conduct and confidentiality while leveraging technology (Skyward, Microsoft Office, Google products) to support student learning. Also requires ongoing professional development and active involvement in building and district activities.
Required Qualifications
- Washington State Teaching Certificate with endorsements in Elementary Education or relevant secondary content area (e.g., ELA, Spanish, Social Studies) in addition to a Spanish Bilingual Education endorsement or Spanish ACTFL assessment or equivalent, or the ability to obtain the needed qualifications prior to start date
- Bilingual competency in English in addition to Spanish, minimum of Advanced Low on ACTFL
- Spanish language proficiency evidenced by OSPI endorsement or ACTFL assessments (advanced-mid level in both oral and written Spanish)
- Proficiency with district-required software (e.g., Skyward, Microsoft Office, Google Products)
- Commitment to equity and culturally responsive teaching
- Ability to collaborate with families and staff
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to plan and differentiate instruction for diverse learners
- Compliance with Federal and State grant requirements and district policies
