Job Summary
Dual Language Teacher for 6th grade in Vancouver Public Schools (WA) for the 2026-27 school year. Full-time, Exempt position. Requires a valid WA teaching certificate, a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) and high proficiency in Spanish. Responsibilities include delivering middle-level instruction in a bilingual setting, collaborating with PLCs, employing diverse instructional strategies and technology, supporting ESL/ELL/bilingual education initiatives, and contributing to a collegial, student-centered learning environment with strong classroom management and professional development participation.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Washington State teaching certificate appropriate for assignment
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
- Master’s preferred (Master’s degree) or higher
- Advanced level proficiency in Spanish language on ACTFL written and oral assessments
- English as a Second Language (ESL), English Language Learner (ELL), or Bilingual Education endorsement, preferred
- Successful teaching experience in middle level grades, preferred
- Willingness to assist a teaching team in implementing an interdisciplinary instructional program
- Familiarity with a wide variety of teaching techniques to maximize student learning
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Willingness to participate in staff development courses aligned with school/district initiatives
- Comfortable working in a collaborative environment in a program focused on improving student learning
- Willingness to collaborate with PLC
- Cooperates as a professional team member and represents the best interests of the school
- Ability to work in a semi-open or self-contained classroom
- Knowledge of teaching strategies such as cooperative learning, integrated curriculum, whole language, etc.
- Must be fully bilingual (read, write, and communicate) in Spanish
- Ability to work cooperatively with students and parents from diverse backgrounds
- Advanced ability to use technology as an instructional and planning tool
- Willingness to participate in professional development aligned with district initiatives
