Job Summary
Conduct daily inspections of pipeline construction, welding, and coating applications to ensure compliance with API 1104, ASME B 31.8, and company specifications. Maintain detailed inspector logs, submit daily inspection reports, and witness hydrostatic testing while verifying material quality and welder qualifications. Coordinate with contractors to validate as-built information, safety measures, and environmental best practices during field operations. Plan inspection duties in advance, report safety issues immediately, and verify proper installation of shrink sleeves, padding, and bedding. Requires AWS CWI and NACE CIP Level 1 certifications, with up to 75% travel across South Texas locations.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience pertaining to the skillset required to build/install natural gas transmission pipeline facilities
- 3-5+ years of pipeline construction and/or inspection experience
- Ability to read construction drawings, alignment sheets and valve maps and translate to actual field constructability
- Past experience inspecting the application of field applied pipeline coatings
- Familiarity with DOT 192 and OSHA regulations
- Ability to read, interpret and implement the Company's OPM and all other attachments
- American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (AWS CWI or SCWI)
- NACE CIP Level 1
- Knowledge of codes and standards including API 1104, ASME B 31.8, NACE and SSPC
- Word and Excel Computer skills
- Experience with Fabrication
- Ability to read and interpret IFC'S, ISO'S, and P&ID'S
- Must be able to read ISO's or dig sheets
- Must be intermediate with a computer and reports
- Good detail oriented and good communication skills
- Up to 75% Travel
