Job Summary
Dual Certification Peer Support Specialist and Recovery Coach role at Network180’s Access Center. In this role, provide peer support to individuals navigating mental health and substance use services, model recovery, and assist in understanding and accessing services. Leverage lived experience to support a multidisciplinary team, demonstrate coping skills, and help individuals access substance use disorder services. In-person, 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm at 790 Fuller Ave NE Grand Rapids, MI. Requires High School diploma or GED, 18+ years old, and certification as Peer Recovery Coach and Peer Support Specialist or ability to obtain within the first year. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required. Strong communication, problem-solving, and computer/data entry skills; ability to work across diverse communities. Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Certification as Peer Recovery Coach and Peer Support Specialist or able to obtain certification within first year of employment by meeting the following requirements: Peer Recovery Coach Have a substance use disorder, co-occurring disorder(s), and/or non-substance addictive disorder(s) and have received treatment from a public or private provider; Have two continuous years in recovery at some point in time after the age of 18; Have personal experience in navigating complex substance use disorder, co-occurring disorder(s), and/or non- substance addictive disorder(s) treatment services (self-help groups are not included); Self-identifies as having a substance use disorder, co-occurring disorder(s), and/or non- substance addictive disorder(s) with a substantial life disruption and shares their recovery story in supporting others; Peer Recovery Coach Have a substance use disorder, co-occurring disorder(s), and/or non-substance addictive disorder(s) and have received treatment from a public or private provider; Have two continuous years in recovery at some point in time after the age of 18; Have personal experience in navigating complex substance use disorder, co-occurring disorder(s), and/or non- substance addictive disorder(s) treatment services (self-help groups are not included); Self-identifies as having a substance use disorder, co-occurring disorder(s), and/or non- substance addictive disorder(s) with a substantial life disruption and shares their recovery story in supporting others
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use.
- Ongoing stability of symptoms and recovery with ability to help others who may be experiencing behavioral health symptoms/crisis.
- Knowledge about mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders as well as about recovery and crisis planning.
- Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and data entry skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Work effectively in a multicultural environment and skills and capabilities of bridging language/cultural barriers to Network180 services within diverse communities.
