Job Summary
Tenure Track Assistant Professor to lead the design, construction, and advancement of advanced UHV platforms for atomic-scale investigations of catalytic materials relevant to energy conversion; responsibilities include integrating catalytic activity measurements into UHV systems, establishing quantitative structure–function relationships, and providing mechanistic insight into activity, selectivity, and stability under controlled conditions. The role includes organizing and contributing to interdisciplinary research within DTU Physics, SURFCAT, and the CAPeX center, with a strong emphasis on teaching in the DTU course curriculum and collaboration with national and international partners.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline
- Strong record of scientific excellence with peer-reviewed publications and/or major conference presentations
- Experience in teaching and supervision; ability to teach physics courses as part of the DTU Physics course curriculum
- Proficiency in electro- and/or thermal catalysis and UHV-based surface science techniques (e.g., STM, XPS, AES, TPD)
- Demonstrated ability to design, construct, integrate, and operate complex UHV instrumentation
- Ability to conduct independent, interdisciplinary research and contribute to collaborations within DTU, CAPeX, and international partners
- Fluency in at least one of Danish or English with expectation to master both
