Job Summary
Work alongside individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to help them achieve personal life goals, develop daily living skills, and advocate for their needs. Teach new life skills, promote health and safety, and assist in overcoming barriers to social relationships. Provide positive behavior support, prevent and report abuse, and accurately document all service provision and daily notes. Transport clients to medical appointments or community outings, perform personal care and hygiene tasks, and prepare nutritious meals. Support vocational participants by developing soft skills, evaluating progress, conducting community outreach for volunteer opportunities, and assisting with resume development and interview preparation. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and families to ensure person-centered services are delivered.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid CPR/FA certification
- Valid SCIP certification (OPWDD Only)
- Valid TRUST certification (OMH Only)
- Valid AMAP certification (OPWDD Only)
- Valid G-Tube and Insulin certifications (for specific OPWDD programs)
- Functional proficiency in spoken and written English
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with flexibility, keeping others informed and anticipating needs
- Efficient, well organized, and excellent communication skills
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid Driver's License and satisfy criteria to be a driver for the agency required
- Ability to sit, walk and stand for prolonged period of time (at least 8 hours)
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or stand on a stool as needed
- Ability to lift 50 pounds at a time
