Job Summary
Direct Support Professional to work with individuals supported to help achieve personal outcomes, including assisting with daily living, health and safety, teaching life skills, advocating, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to develop service plans. Responsibilities include promoting health and safety, supporting community involvement, transporting clients to locations outside the home using a motor vehicle, documenting service provision, and providing positive behavior support as needed. Requires bedside or personal care for OPWDD participants, basic housekeeping, meal planning/shopping/preparation, and meeting safety standards; must have a valid driver’s license; in-person work in Selden, NY.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Experience: Experience performing related job duties preferred
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 18 years of age or older; Proficient computer skills preferred; Proficient writing skills with grasp of basic grammar and spelling; Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with flexibility; Must be efficient and well organized; Excellent communication skills
- Other Requirements: Valid Driver’s License and satisfy criteria to be a driver for the agency required
