Job Summary
Design and simulate advanced Digital Signal Processing and Forward Error Correction algorithms in floating-point and fixed-point precision to optimize link performance. Collaborate with FPGA engineering teams to provide fixed-point models for RTL implementation and develop end-to-end system models of analog RF and optical components. Partner with optical testing and firmware teams to create automated algorithms for transceiver calibration and beam alignment, then validate designs against actual hardware performance using lab data. Document algorithm architectures and simulation results to support the engineering lifecycle. Ideally suited for a fresh PhD graduate transitioning into high-impact space-bound hardware work.
Required Qualifications
- Post Doctorate (or nearing completion) with a PHD in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Physics, or a highly related field with a research focus on DSP or digital communications
- Extensive hands-on experience using MATLAB and Simulink for complex modeling, system simulation, and algorithm development
- A deep, foundational understanding of digital communication theory, signal modulation, noise modeling, and error-correction techniques
- Experience converting floating-point algorithms into optimized, bit-true fixed-point models suitable for FPGA or ASIC implementation
