Job Summary
Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides hands-on caregiving, positive direction, instruction, and assistance to individuals with mental, intellectual & developmental, and physical disabilities. Responsibilities include providing hands-on caregiving, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance; ensuring comfort, safety, and personal growth; assisting with daily living tasks (moving, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene); performing housekeeping and laundry; supporting individuals to live as independently as possible with dignity and respect. Requires basic computer skills for documentation, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs; willingness to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays; background clearance required; training provided.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- A successful background clearance is required as part of the onboarding/employment process
- Good communication, reading, writing skills to document care and follow support plans
