Job Summary
The Behavior Support Professional is responsible for providing support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities facing significant behavioral barriers. Responsibilities include implementing skill-based training utilizing principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and Positive Behavior Supports, ensuring the health and safety of residents, engaging them through activities, advocating for their needs, and maintaining accurate documentation of behavioral episodes and skill development. Candidates should possess strong communication skills, a valid First Aid/CPR Certification, and experience in a residential setting with individuals who are developmentally disabled.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Willingness and ability to stay current in effective behavior management techniques
- Two to five years’ experience working in a residential setting with individuals who are developmentally disabled
- Ability to meet required state and agency standards and in-service training and education
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Current and valid First Aid/CPR Certification
- Personal vehicle for transportation of individuals served (as needed), current and valid California driver’s license
Desired Qualifications
- Educational background in psychology and behaviorism or certification as a Registered Behavior Technician
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification
- Experience with individuals who have significant behavioral concerns
