Job Summary
Prepare and cook various meal items according to Lakeview Village recipes, including washing produce, seasoning meat, and portioning ingredients. Monitor the progress of multiple food items throughout the preparation, cooking, and serving process while ensuring compliance with Local, State, and Federal Regulations. Fulfill orders from Dining Room Servers accurately, timely, and appropriately plated, and assist other team members as needed. Maintain sanitation of kitchen workstations and report equipment malfunctions to a supervisor. Participate in seasonal menu development and required training programs. This Full Time role at a continuing care retirement community requires three years of cooking experience, the ability to work irregular hours, and an empathetic approach to elderly residents.
Required Qualifications
- At least three years of cooking experience
- Ability to read written documents, including but not limited to: Hazardous Materials labels, job checklists, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
- Ability to work irregular hours
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed, straight-forward written and/or oral instructions
- Ability to perform tasting and or/smelling of food items
- Possesses an empathetic approach to the elderly
- Able to work in a team setting with residents, relatives, staff, and others
Desired Qualifications
- GED or High School Graduation
- other food service experience
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks appropriately, and exercise sound judgement where procedures cannot be standardized
