Job Summary
Teach drumline fundamentals and percussion instruction under the guidance of the Instrumental Music Director. Responsibilities include teaching drumline basics (warm-ups, marching technique, stick work), conducting rehearsals and sectionals, assisting with auditions and instrument placements, promoting a positive band program image, maintaining inventories of percussion supplies, and ensuring student behavior aligns with school policies. Requires strong percussion background, experience teaching high school students, ability to engage and inspire students, and capacity to work with diverse age groups; willingness to work outdoors/indoors as needed; familiarity with equipment maintenance and safe environment requirements. Preference given to practicing Catholics. Must comply with Safe Environment training and diocesan requirements; AZ FBI fingerprint clearance may be required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Strong background in marching band percussion performance
- Experience teaching percussion to high school aged students
- Experience working with high school students
- Ability to inspire students and build enthusiasm for the subject
- Ability to tune/replace drum heads and perform minor repairs on percussion equipment
- Knowledge of teaching techniques suitable for 90-minute class periods
- FBI background clearance and Safe Environment Training compliance
- Practice Catholics preferred (optional)
