Job Summary
Advise the Supervisory Foreign Affairs Officer/Team Leader on the daily implementation of the Drug Supply Reduction program, particularly regarding synthetic drugs. Provide logistics and administrative support by preparing documentation, briefing materials, and correspondence while establishing professional relationships with USG law enforcement agencies and embassy personnel. Draft technical, programmatic, and informational memoranda, assist in Congressional testimony preparation, and liaise with intra-agency partners through written and oral briefings to senior officials. Support the development, monitoring, and implementation of projects within the Drug Supply Reduction budget line, including drafting procurement requests and managing funds with partner agencies. Assist in planning and managing funds in coordination with international organizations and other implementers.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizen
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Zero to two years' experience in relevant field
- Demonstrated ability to work on projects and issues within overall policy guidelines
- Demonstrated skilled in oral and written communication, sufficient to draft action and info memos, congressional testimony, press guidance and congressional and general correspondence
- Knowledge of international narcotics and law enforcement issues
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience working with the Department of State
- Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of the State Department's foreign assistance process, the structure and hierarchy of U.S. embassies, and familiarity with the interagency law enforcement community
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written English communication skills and superior interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience working on counternarcotics issues
