Job Summary
Create a safe, welcoming environment for children in the Drop-in Child Care program by personally greeting every guest, ensuring check-in procedures, and providing positive direction. Assist parents with diaper changes, feeding, and toilet training while maintaining a clean, organized area and changing equipment as needed. Document accidents or incidents promptly, attend staff meetings and special cleaning days, and respond to feedback with a courteous attitude. Work regularly scheduled shifts as assigned, substituting when permitted, and adhere to OSHA standards and YMCA core values.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with children and families
- Ability to interact with children and families from diverse backgrounds
- Strong communication, patience, creativity, and organizational skills
- High level of initiative, dependability, and team spirit
- Must be able to lift young children as needed to assist them in and out of swings, cribs and equipment (children weighing approximately up to 50 pounds)
- Must be comfortable feeding babies and/or assisting children with toilet training
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification within 60 days of employment
Desired Qualifications
- Training or experience in Early Childhood Education or working with ages 0-6
