Job Summary
Conduct classroom and behind-the-wheel training for drivers of all ages using the AAA curriculum, while utilizing software to record and maintain student progress. Evaluate student performance, provide additional support as needed, and schedule driving appointments. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state DMV laws, safe driving practices, and defensive driving techniques, ensuring all records required by the state of Portland, ME are current. Work weekday schedules starting as late as 12 pm during the school year, teaching on at least one weekend day per week.
Required Qualifications
- 21 years of age
- 4 years of driving experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Acceptable driving record
- Pass a background check
- Pass a drug test
- Comprehensive knowledge of state and local traffic laws
- Knowledge of ordinances
- Knowledge of safety policies and procedures
- Knowledge of state DMV laws and regulations
- Knowledge of safe driving practices
- Knowledge of defensive driving practices
- Basic skills in Word
- Basic skills in Excel
- Confidence in ability to interact well with the public
- Confidence in ability to interact well with teens
- Flexibility to accommodate student availability
- Availability for weekday schedules starting as late as 12 pm during the school year
- Availability to teach on at least one weekend day per week
