Job Summary
Safely transport ambulatory individuals at risk of or experiencing homelessness to and from Wesley Health Centers, partner agencies, and LAC+USC Hospital outpatient clinics along a fixed route in Downtown Skid Row. Conduct daily vehicle inspections, refuel, clean, and maintain the vehicle while collecting demographic data for ridership logs and compiling monthly transportation reports. Assist passengers with limited mobility, recognize signs of medical distress, and promptly report incidents or seek emergency help as needed. Collaborate with supervisors to plan efficient routes and adjust for traffic or special passenger needs. Maintain compliance with all traffic laws, vehicle regulations, and safety protocols. Valid California Class B Driver's License with passenger endorsement and current medical certificate required. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Valid California Class B Driver's License with passenger endorsement
- Current medical certificate in compliance with California regulations
- Clean driving record for the past three years, verified through an MVR report
- Proof of adequate insurance for personal vehicle use
- Ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals experiencing homelessness
- Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate attitude towards underserved populations
- Ability to manage time efficiently and follow set routes and schedules
- Attention to detail when completing reports and maintaining vehicle checklists
Desired Qualifications
- Los Angeles City Department of Transportation (LADOT) permit
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
- Fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19
