Job Summary
Safely transport ambulatory passengers experiencing homelessness on a fixed route to Wesley Health Centers, partner agencies, and LAC+USC Hospital outpatient clinics. Conduct daily vehicle inspections, manage fuel and cleaning, and collect demographic data to complete ridership logs. Assist passengers with limited mobility, recognize signs of medical distress, and promptly report incidents or seek emergency help. Compile and submit transportation data for monthly reporting while collaborating with supervisors to plan efficient routes. Maintain compliance with all traffic laws and safety protocols throughout the shift.
Required Qualifications
- Valid California Class B Driver's License with passenger endorsement
- Current medical certificate in compliance with California regulations
- Clean driving record for the past three years, verified through an MVR report
- Proof of adequate insurance for personal vehicle use
- Ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals experiencing homelessness
- Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate attitude towards underserved populations
- Ability to manage time efficiently and follow set routes and schedules
- Attention to detail when completing reports and maintaining vehicle checklists
Desired Qualifications
- Los Angeles City Department of Transportation (LADOT) permit preferred
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred
