Job Summary
Conduct scheduled and unscheduled medical transportation, delivering passengers safely to hospitals, nursing homes, and other facilities. Provide safe movement of medical teams and passengers to and from wheelchairs and stretchers while monitoring passenger safety en route and during transport in accordance with state law and company guidelines. Ensure vehicles and equipment are ready for use through daily inspections, cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance. Maintain appropriate communications with dispatch and medical control, complete all required documentation, and obtain medical histories and billing information for every response. Adhere to HIPAA regulations, Universal Precautions, and infection control protocols while maintaining personal and public safety.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess a high degree of personal integrity and responsibility.
- Must be currently licensed, certified, or registered by the appropriate state agencies.
- Must be currently certified in CPR through the American Heart Association (AHA) or another approved organization.
- Must be currently certified in First Aid through the American Red Cross (ARC) or another approved organization.
- Must become certified as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) within one year of hire.
- Must possess the appropriate state motor vehicle operator's license.
- Must maintain a clean driving record acceptable to the company's vehicle liability insurer.
- Must successfully complete a CEVO ambulance driver safety classroom and practical course.
- Must have the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment.
- Must have the ability to work efficiently and interact professionally with coworkers, public safety personnel, and medical staff.
- Must have the ability to interact effectively and professionally with passengers, customers, clients, family members, bystanders, and the general public in a manner that reflects positively on the company.
- Must demonstrate the skills and abilities necessary to provide high-quality passenger care.
- The ability to pass a DOT physical.
- The ability to reach, push and pull.
- The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- The ability to walk up and down stairs without difficulty.
- The ability to bend, stoop, squat and kneel for long periods of time.
- The ability to walk a distance of one quarter of a mile without difficulty.
- The ability to complete all job duties during any and all hours of the day and night.
- The ability to lift and maneuver 150 pounds without difficulty.
- The ability to lift and maneuver 150 pounds up and down two flights of stairs without difficulty.
