Job Summary
CDL Driver Training Program at Brown Foodservice prepares trainees to pass the state skills test and obtain a Class A CDL. Trainees will be paired with a qualified trainer to develop driving skills and professional development. The program is based out of the Marietta, Ohio shuttle point and includes driving tractor-trailers to deliver products on assigned routes, DOT compliance, accurate load handling, pre/post-trip inspections, electronic driver logs, classroom/field instruction, and adherence to transportation, safety, and company policies. Successful trainees gain skills for a professional driving role, with emphasis on safety, communication with supervisors, paperwork, and operational efficiency. Required Qualifications
- Must learn and adhere to Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, bend, squat, and stoop to accomplish the essential job functions
- Ability to perform repetitive lifting of 50 lbs
- Strong communication skills with ability to communicate with management team, drivers, sales, and customers
- Ability to use new applications/proprietary software
- Basic math skills required
- Self-motivated; customer-focused
- Active listening skills; Independent thinking/decision-making skills
- Ensure attendance and punctuality within company standards
- Must pass a background check, drug screen and other job requirements
