Job Summary
The Driver Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive safety education and training to drivers and aides, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. Key responsibilities include instructing trainees in pre-trip instructions, driving techniques, and preparing daily training materials. The role demands strong leadership to set safety standards, conduct various training sessions including Defensive Driving and CPR, and evaluate driver performance through field observations. Candidates must have a valid Type 3 Driver’s License, obtain a CDL B license with the necessary endorsements within a set timeframe, and possess strong communication and computer skills to prepare and communicate training reports effectively.
Required Qualifications
- 4-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Type 3 Driver’s License
- Must obtain a CDL B or higher within three months of hire with a “P” endorsement and be qualified to obtain an “S” endorsement
- Must be able to work various shifts, including weekends, afternoons, evenings, holidays
Desired Qualifications
- Possesses valid CDL “B” or “A” license
- Demonstrates effective coaching and performance development skills
- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Email, Word computer programs
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to pass D.O.T. physical with company physician
- Meets Functional Capacity Exam requirements
