Job Summary
Complete Republic Services' CDL training program, including classroom study, on-route training, and driving experience to obtain a commercial driver's license. Operate manual and/or automatic trucks along designated routes to service customers, lift and load refuse, and dispose of collected material at facilities. Perform complete pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections to ensure safety equipment, fluids, and controls are functional, while continuously monitoring waste for unacceptable materials and tagging unsatisfactory containers. Report safety issues on standard reports and clean waste from the packer blade and truck body after each disposal trip. Follow all required safety policies and procedures to minimize vehicle downtime.
Required Qualifications
- No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial drivers' license
- Must be able to lift and load refuse
- Must be able to operate compactor
- Must be able to dispose of collected material at the designated facility
- Must be able to identify unsatisfactory waste containers
- Must be able to tag containers in accordance with applicable departmental procedures
- Must be able to continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste
- Must be able to continuously monitor the condition of any assigned vehicle
- Must be able to clean waste from the packer blade and truck body
- Must be able to follow all required safety policies and procedures
- Must be able to read route sheet
- Must be able to follow map
- Must be able to service each customer as identified on the route sheet or as assigned by the dispatcher and/or supervisor
- Must be able to operate manual and/or automatic controls
- Must be able to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges and controls are in proper working order
- Must be able to report any safety issues on standard reports
- Must be able to perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the assigned vehicle
- Must be able to operate a heavy or commercial truck along a designated route and to the disposal site
