Job Summary
Confirm daily route plans, assign truck and driver pairings, and proactively address delays before they impact service. Ride routes to coach drivers in real time, verify pre- and post-trip inspections, and audit timecards for accuracy. Resolve missed pickups same day, document incidents and near-misses immediately, and lead initial incident response on scene. Ensure compliance with DOT/HOS requirements and safety protocols while meeting department KPIs. This field-first role involves translating the daily game plan into on-time, in-full service with a crew that runs safely and with minimal rework.
Required Qualifications
- Valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment and respond to operational issues in real time
- Ability to be on call for emergencies or urgent route issues outside normal hours
- Field-based role with frequent travel to route locations throughout the shift
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, heavy equipment, and waste collection environments
- Requires physical activity including walking, standing, bending, and occasional lifting
- Schedule may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends as operational needs require
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience directly supervising drivers or route crews
- Experience in waste management, collections, or a related logistics/route-based industry
- Additional education, training, or certifications in waste management, logistics, or safety
- Familiarity with route optimization and scheduling software
- Proficient with relevant software for data tracking, reporting, and timecard review
