Driver Supervisor

Job Summary

Confirm daily route plans, assign truck and driver pairings, and proactively address delays before they impact service. Ride routes to coach drivers in real time, verify pre- and post-trip inspections, and audit timecards for accuracy. Resolve missed pickups same day, document incidents and near-misses immediately, and lead initial incident response on scene. Ensure compliance with DOT/HOS requirements and safety protocols while meeting department KPIs. This field-first role involves translating the daily game plan into on-time, in-full service with a crew that runs safely and with minimal rework.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment and respond to operational issues in real time
  • Ability to be on call for emergencies or urgent route issues outside normal hours
  • Field-based role with frequent travel to route locations throughout the shift
  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, heavy equipment, and waste collection environments
  • Requires physical activity including walking, standing, bending, and occasional lifting
  • Schedule may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends as operational needs require

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience directly supervising drivers or route crews
  • Experience in waste management, collections, or a related logistics/route-based industry
  • Additional education, training, or certifications in waste management, logistics, or safety
  • Familiarity with route optimization and scheduling software
  • Proficient with relevant software for data tracking, reporting, and timecard review
