Job Summary
Conduct driver's license interviews, examinations, and vehicle safety inspections to determine eligibility and qualification for licenses or state identification cards in compliance with state and federal regulations. Interview applicants to verify identity, review documents for legality, and administer vision, written, and skills tests while advising on waiver procedures or restrictions. Establish driver's license records securely, assist the Legal Division with evidence gathering for fraudulent applications, and respond to inquiries from agents and law enforcement regarding specific laws and procedures. Render final decisions on suspensions, revocations, and temporary licenses based on accident reports and individual circumstances. Work part-time (maximum 24 hours per week) with a flexible schedule including weekends, early or late shifts, and occasional overtime in a storefront setting.
Required Qualifications
- Possession and maintenance of a valid Oklahoma Driver License
- A Bachelor's Degree in any field OR four (4) years of technical clerical office work OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to conduct interviews
- Ability to inspect and evaluate motor vehicles and related equipment
- Ability to operate all types of motor vehicles
- Ability to administer written and performance tests
- Ability to determine authenticity of identification documents in order to verify the individual is legally within the United States and the state of Oklahoma
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to operate computers
- Ability to touch type
- Ability to stand up to eight hours a day
- Ability to lift 10-50 pounds on a regular basis
- Willingness and ability to perform all job-related travel
- Knowledge of state and federal laws regarding driving privileges, physical requirements, exemptions and the issuance of driver's licenses
- Knowledge of various types of commercial vehicles, related safety and operating equipment and licensing requirements
- Knowledge of the different types of driver's licenses
- Knowledge of interviewing principles and practices
- Must be available for weekends
- Must be available for early or late shifts
- Must be available for occasional overtime
Desired Qualifications
- Previous customer service experience
- Familiarity with DMV processes and procedures
- Proficiency in typing at least 50wpm with minimal errors
