Job Summary
Instruct new drivers through hands-on training and classroom instruction on foundational driving techniques, FMCSA/safety policies, and in-cab systems and telematics. Provide practical guidance, ensure understanding of driver knowledge, utilize resources to give students a complete overview of company resources, coordinate onboarding, document daily proficiency, evaluate student performance, and collaborate with teams to achieve organizational goals. Maintain ongoing teaching qualifications to meet state licensure/academy requirements and comply with PTDI/CVTA standards.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years' OTR experience required unless state law requires additional years of experience.
- Must be able to qualify as a Class A CDL driver by meeting company requirements including, but not limited to:
- Must have fewer than 3 moving violations within a 5 year period (no more than 1 within 12 months).
- Must have fewer than 2 suspensions within 3yrs (this excludes child support).
- Must have no history of a DUI or DWI within the last 5yrs or 1 within the last 15yrs.
- Must have fewer than 2 preventable accidents within 5 yrs.
- Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) road test.
- Must have appropriate state certification as a CDL Examiner if tasked with administering exams.
- Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
