Job Summary
Driver operates a bus to transport passengers safely and courteously, adheres to a strict timetable, completes a thorough pre-trip inspection, maintains a clean interior, and provides customer-focused service while complying with safety and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include communicating with passengers, working as part of a team, and following routes and schedules with flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays; requires a valid CDL with passenger endorsement and airbrakes, plus a clean driving record.
Required Qualifications
- Current Valid Commercial Drivers License
- Passenger endorsement
- Airbrakes
- VTT (verification for Transit Training)
- Must have a safe driving record: No more than two minor violations in past 36 months; No more than one chargeable accident in past 36 months; no major violations in past 36 months
- Must have never failed or refused to take a drug and/or alcohol test, without satisfactorily completing an FTA-approved program
- Ability to read, write and speak English sufficiently to understand street signs, maps, and complete reports/forms
- Must satisfactorily complete and maintain: MVR assessment, pre-employment drug/alcohol tests, pre-employment DMV physical, background investigation, acquire DM certifications: VTT as required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to sit for long periods (2, 4, 8 or up to 10 hours)
- Must be able to operate a bus safely and assist wheelchair passengers using a 4-point system
- Must abide by all company safety rules and guidelines
