Job Summary
Operate a transit motor vehicle safely to provide reliable and efficient public transportation. Assist passengers, including those using walkers, wheelchairs, and mobility devices, on and off the vehicle. Transport passengers with disabilities and provide door-to-door service when required. Accept and accurately record fares in cash, tickets, passes, and transfers. Manage conflict or difficult situations involving passengers professionally. Maintain a valid California driver's license and CDL with a passenger endorsement. Pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and DOT physical. Complete paid CDL training and permit assistance. Work as a driver for LA County contracts at a starting hourly rate of $20.50.
Required Qualifications
- Reside in California
- At least 21 years of age
- Valid California Driver's license
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Pass a background check
- Pass a DOT physical
- CDL with passenger Endorsement
- Excellent communication skills
- Decision-making skills
- Ability to assist passengers including those who use walkers, wheelchairs, and/or other mobility devices on and off the vehicle
- Ability to transport passengers with disabilities including providing door to door service when required
- Ability to safely and professionally manage conflict and/or difficult situations involving passengers
- Ability to accept and accurately record passenger fares including cash, tickets, passes, and transfers
- Ability to maintain a valid driver license and all other required credentials, certifications, and qualifications
