Job Summary
Driver transports recipients to and from vocational sites and field trips in specially equipped vehicles, ensuring passenger safety and vehicle safety. Responsibilities include daily vehicle inspections, maintaining safe/clean condition of the vehicle, reporting needed repairs, establishing and adjusting routes, monitoring recipients with special health needs, administering first aid when necessary, transporting medications and belongings, maintaining mileage and routing records, attending training, and maintaining required licenses/certifications. The role requires loading/unloading and securing wheelchair recipients, operating ramps/lifts, complying with traffic laws and agency policies, and coordinating with parents and staff to meet transportation needs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current Louisiana Chauffeurs Driver’s License or Current Louisiana Commercial Drivers License
- Ability to read and write in English well enough to perform duties
- Knowledge of first aid practices and procedures
- Ability to read maps and establish pickup/drop-off orders
