Job Summary
Perform pre-trip inspections covering tires, oil, fuel, lights, brakes, and hoses; assist with loading and unloading trailers; maintain proper documentation for equipment, time, and trips; and report maintenance issues to supervisors. Operate a commercial motor vehicle transporting live poultry in a secure manner while complying with all Department of Transportation, state, and federal safety rules and regulations. Clean and wash the truck as necessary and work unsupervised in an outside environment including inclement weather, noise, and animal odors. Sit and drive for up to 10 hours, climb in and out of the cab throughout the shift, and lift up to 75 lbs. Work nights, weekends, holidays, and long shifts. Requires a valid Class A CDL, six plus years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record.
Required Qualifications
- 6 plus years of Driving Experience
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Valid Class 'A' CDL
- 1 year verifiable satisfactory driving record
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation, State and Federal Laws
- Ability to read and write legibly
- Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate
- Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous live poultry tractor trailer driving experience
- Basic math functions and skills
- Ability to work in outside environment (including inclement weather) on a daily basis
- Ability to sit and drive for up to 10 hours
- Ability to climb in and out of truck cab throughout shift
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
- Ability to work around raw, live animal odors
- Ability to work in noisy environment (>85 decibels) and moving equipment
- Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays and long shifts
