Job Summary
Operate Class B commercial trucks, including front loader, rear loader, and roll-off models, to collect and transport waste materials while following designated routes and DOT regulations. Load and unload materials manually or using mechanical equipment, conduct routine vehicle inspections of air brake systems, and maintain accurate logs of routes and maintenance records. Adhere to hazardous materials regulations when handling special waste types and provide professional customer service during pickups and drop-offs. Work outdoors in variable weather conditions, performing heavy lifting up to 50 pounds, with approximately 80% of time spent traveling locally. Must possess a valid CDL with air brake endorsement and be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with air brake endorsement
- Proven experience operating heavy-duty trucks such as garbage trucks, front-end loaders, or roll-off trucks
- Knowledge of traffic laws, safety protocols, and hazardous materials regulations related to recycling
- Mechanical knowledge for basic troubleshooting of vehicle issues and performing routine inspections
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual labor in outdoor environments for extended periods
- Strong understanding of recycling practices and procedures
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on defensive driving techniques to ensure safety at all times
- Must be willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
- Reliable and excellent attendance
- Self-starter, maintaining performance standards while working unsupervised
- Displays friendly, helpful customer service with the public
- Must abstain from using illegal drugs and abuse of alcohol
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Must be able to push, pull, lift, load, unload, and carry up to 50lbs of recycling materials

Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED, preferred
- One to three months related experience or training, preferred
- Prior experience working in outdoor settings with adherence to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety standards is preferred
