Job Summary

Drive a commercial motor vehicle to and from designated destinations up to 11 hours, transporting and delivering petroleum products while verifying loads against shipping papers. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, climb ladders to check holding tanks, and submit condition reports after each trip. Install and remove tire chains as required, maneuver the truck in heavy traffic and inclement weather, and operate controls for unloading product including gravity drops and pump-off. Maintain records of duty status, mileage, and other compliance documents, and promptly report accidents, safety hazards, or delays. Use the truck on-board computer to process hours of service and delivery paperwork. Available for irregular shifts and around-the-clock trips to accommodate freight movements.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Commercial Class A driver's license with tanker, combination, and hazmat endorsements
  • Previous 2 years commercial driving experience
  • Ability to read, write and perform simple mathematical calculations with mental ability to handle receipts; read maps, road signs, maintain record of duty status, etc.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection and maintenance
  • Availability for around the clock trips to accommodate freight movements
  • Availability for irregular shifts
  • Meeting or exceeding the medical standards of the US Dept. of Transportation
  • Satisfactorily passing a drug test
  • Satisfactorily passing an alcohol test (if applicable)
  • Must be able to drive equipment in all types of weather and conditions
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, pull and push all types of hoses and equipment required to do job
  • Must be able to climb ladders to check holding tanks on equipment
  • Must be able to climb in and out of the truck cab frequently
  • Must be able to maneuver vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather and in or out of tight loading and unloading areas
  • Must be able to go forward and backing up long distances, around corners, and in and around very tight corners in all situations
  • Must be able to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds
  • Must be able to talk and hear
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
