Job Summary
Assist crew leader in construction, reconstruction, and maintenance work by swamping, hand digging, and locating underground obstructions. Operate specialized equipment including jackhammers, rotary drills, and power actuated fasteners while signaling operators for machinery alignment and movement. Work safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers, and dump trucks, cleaning and preparing sites to eliminate hazards. Maintain daily paperwork including DVIR and driver's log book, ensuring current licenses, tags, permits, and proof of insurance are verified. Perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, lifting up to 80 lbs, and climb or work in tight spaces under adverse conditions. Requires a valid State Driver's License and Class A or B CDL, plus ability to pass MVR check, DOT physical, and drug screen. One plus year of construction experience needed.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift
- Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling
- Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions
- Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers
- Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy
- English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports
- Willingness and ability to learn additional skills
- One (1+) plus years experience working in construction
- Possession of a valid State Driver's License
- A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver's License within two weeks of employment
